Where we install plantation shutters

Noosa in the north to Caloundra in the south, the coastal strip through to the Blackall Range. It is a small enough patch that we know the housing stock street by street, and that turns out to matter more than most people expect.

Our patch

Noosa to Caloundra

Plus the hinterland - Buderim, Nambour, Palmwoods, Maleny and Montville. We deliberately do not service Brisbane or Moreton Bay, because a two-hour round trip is not a business we can do well.

If you are on the boundary and unsure, ask. We would rather tell you honestly.

One team, the whole job.

The person who measures your windows is not a subcontracted salesperson working a territory. We measure, we order, we install and we come back if something needs adjusting - which is only workable because the patch is small enough to drive across in an hour.

The coast

Maroochydore, Kawana and the coastal strip

Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, Cotton Tree, Buddina, Minyama, Warana, Birtinya and Twin Waters - the densest part of the region and the one with the widest range of housing, from 1970s beach houses to units finished last year.

Two things shape what we specify here. The first is salt. Within a few streets of the surf, any external hardware that is not stainless will rust, and it will stain the panel it is fixed to within a couple of seasons. Aluminium outdoor panels and stainless fixings are not an upsell on this strip, they are the spec.

The second is that the newer estates - Birtinya, Bokarina, Kawana Island - are built on tight blocks with windows facing windows. That makes split tilt the most useful option in the range here, because it lets a front bedroom stay light while nobody can see in at eye level.

Kawana and Mooloolaba: stainless hardware is the spec, not an upsell.

The north

Noosa and the northern beaches

Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Sunshine Beach, Tewantin, Peregian Beach, Coolum Beach, Marcoola and Sunrise Beach. Architecturally the most demanding part of the region, and the one where the shaped windows live - raked gables, arched heads, clerestory glazing above stacker doors.

It is also where the alfresco is most often the main living space rather than an add-on, which pushes a lot of these jobs toward external aluminium on the patio and timber inside. And it is the part of the coast with the highest proportion of holiday and short-stay properties, where durability and low maintenance count for more than a finish nobody is looking at closely.

The salt exposure at Sunshine Beach and Peregian is as severe as anywhere on the coast. Same rule applies: stainless hardware, powder-coated aluminium outside, and a fresh-water rinse every few months.

The south

Caloundra and Pelican Waters

Caloundra, Golden Beach, Pelican Waters, Currimundi, Moffat Beach, Dicky Beach, Aroona and Little Mountain. A mix of older brick-and-tile stock and newer canal-front and estate housing, which means the two ends of the frame-type conversation - deep reveals on the older brick homes, shallow ones on newer lightweight construction.

Golden Beach and Pelican Waters sit on the water with long western exposures, and west-facing living rooms are the single most common reason people on this side of the coast call us. That is the job shutters do best, and it is where the difference between an internal panel and outdoor aluminium is most worth discussing properly.

The range

Buderim, Nambour and the hinterland

Buderim, Nambour, Palmwoods, Woombye, Yandina, Eumundi, Mooloolah Valley, Maleny and Montville. A genuinely different climate to the coastal strip, and the specification changes with it.

No salt to speak of, which takes external corrosion out of the equation. But colder nights, more sustained damp and more mould pressure in poorly ventilated rooms, which makes wet-area specification matter more rather than less - a timber shutter in a hinterland bathroom with an inadequate exhaust fan will fail faster than the same shutter at Mooloolaba.

The housing stock skews older and more traditional too. Buderim and Palmwoods have a lot of Queenslanders with original timber sills and sash windows, where narrow louvres and a three-sided frame keeping the existing sill usually look right where a contemporary specification would not.

Being straight about it

Where we do not go

We do not service Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Caboolture, Redcliffe, the Gold Coast or anywhere further afield, and we will say so on the phone rather than quoting and then finding a reason not to proceed.

The reason is simple. A shutter job is not one visit - it is a measure, an install, and usually a short return visit to adjust something once the house has settled around it. That model only works inside a radius we can cover properly. Stretching it would mean doing a worse job for everyone, including the customers we already have.

If you are just outside the area, we are happy to point you toward someone closer rather than leaving you to work it out. That costs us nothing and it is a better outcome than a job neither party enjoys.

FAQ

Service area questions

What areas do you service for plantation shutters?

The whole Sunshine Coast - Noosa in the north to Caloundra in the south, the coastal strip through Maroochydore and Kawana, and the hinterland out to Buderim, Nambour, Palmwoods, Maleny and Montville. Free measure and quote anywhere inside that.

Do you service Brisbane or Moreton Bay?

No, and we will tell you that on the phone rather than quoting and then finding a reason not to proceed. That includes Caboolture, Redcliffe and north Brisbane. A shutter job is a measure, an install and usually a return visit to adjust, and that only works inside a radius we can cover properly.

Do you charge for travel within the Sunshine Coast?

No. The measure is free and there is no travel charge anywhere inside our service area, from Noosa to Caloundra and out to the range. The patch is small enough that travel is not a meaningful cost, which is exactly why we keep it that way.

Do you service Noosa?

Yes - Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Sunshine Beach, Tewantin, Sunrise Beach and Castaways Beach. It is also where a lot of the shaped-window work is, so raked gables, arched heads and clerestory glazing above stacker doors are familiar rather than unusual.

Does my suburb change what shutters you recommend?

Genuinely, yes. Within a few streets of the surf, external hardware has to be stainless and outdoor panels have to be powder-coated aluminium, or salt will have them within a couple of seasons. In the hinterland there is no salt but more sustained damp, which makes wet-area material choice matter more. Newer tight-block estates push toward split tilt for privacy.

Do you install in units and apartments?

Yes, and a large share of the coastal strip work is exactly that. The one extra step is body corporate approval where the shutters are visible from outside the building, which is usually straightforward but worth starting early - we can provide the specification the committee will ask for.

Do you work on holiday and rental properties?

Yes. On short-stay and holiday properties we usually steer toward waterproof PVC and aluminium rather than timber, because durability and easy cleaning matter more than a finish nobody is examining closely. For long-term tenanted investment properties we will often tell you blinds are the better spend.

My suburb is not on your list. Do you still come?

If it is on the Sunshine Coast, almost certainly. The list covers the suburbs we work in most, not the limits of where we go. Ask, and if you are outside the area we will say so plainly and point you toward someone closer rather than leaving you to sort it out.
