What are plantation shutters actually made of?
Our indoor range is basswood — a light, dimensionally stable hardwood that holds a painted or stained finish beautifully and won't sag over time. Wet areas get waterproof PVC. Outdoors we use powder-coated aluminium built for salt air.
Will they handle Sunshine Coast salt air and humidity?
Yes, provided the right material goes in the right place — which is exactly why the range is split. Aluminium and PVC are unaffected by moisture and salt, so they go in bathrooms, laundries, poolside and coastal-facing openings. Timber goes in the living areas where it looks its best.
Do shutters actually reduce heat?
Meaningfully. Closed louvres stop direct sun before it reaches the glass and create an insulating air gap, and you can angle them to keep light without the heat. Western-facing rooms are where customers notice the biggest difference.
How long from quote to installed?
Typically 4–6 weeks. Panels are manufactured to your exact measurements, so there is a build window — we confirm the install date at measure-up and keep you posted.
Can you do arches, raked windows and odd shapes?
Yes — raked and angled windows, arches, bay returns, corner joins and full-height sliders are all doable. Send a photo with your enquiry and we'll tell you straight away.
Do they come stained or painted?
Both. Timber shutters can be painted in a standard white or a colour match, or stained to show the grain. Aluminium comes powder-coated in a range of finishes. We bring samples to the measure.
What do plantation shutters cost?
It depends on material, size and panel configuration, so any published rate would mislead you. The in-home measure and quote is free, takes about half an hour, and there is no obligation.
Is there a warranty?
Yes — product and workmanship are both covered, and the terms are on your quote before you commit to anything.
